Using A Landscape Spot Light To Make The Yard Glow
Making a homes yard a focal point for both the day and at night can take some planning and a yard can look wonderful in the light but looses its appeal once the sun has set. Many homeowners are looking at landscaping ideas and discovering that landscape lighting is a way to make their yard the envy of the neighborhood.
A yard with a well lit yard is one that attracts attention and it doesn’t take very many lights to make a yard a really stand out. A few lights that are placed in specific points around the yard can not only illuminate the house, but also special features in the yard. At night plants and trees can take on shapes that make them special and a landscape spot light is one way to create that look.
Path lighting is another way to bring the eyes up a path and right to a homes front door. This type of visual is a welcoming sign to visitors and can bring out the best features of a home as well as a yard. A landscape spotlight can also be used in conjunction with path lighting to create a warm feeling for guests.
Using A Landscape Spot Light To Make An Impact
A landscape spot light can be placed at an angle that will enhance the shadows that are cast by a tree or even water feature in the yard. These shadows can really bring attention to a yard as well as making the specified feature attractive. By placing a landscape spot light at the base of a tree and just focusing the light on that area, the tree can take on a new shape and helps to make that much desired impact.
By placing lights that aren’t as bright around other features in the yard, the yard itself can take on different depths and perceptions due to the light variations. These can create dancing shadows through out the yard and make the entire yard unique and attractive.
Solar lights are good for a lower level of light that may be needed in the yard. These energy saving lights store up solar power during the day and automatically come on once it is dusk. These are low maintenance lights that don’t take a lot of time to install as they are independent of a power source. These types of lights can be used through out the yard and are a great way to enhance those corners of a lot to brighten them up.
For a more powerful landscape spot light, the traditional style light is needed. These will use not only a power source but also light bulbs so they involve a little more up keep. The cables need to be buried and a shallow ditch can be dug to put the cables in. They will need to be hooked up to a transformer and then an outside power outlet.
Both types of lighting takes some planning to get the best design lay out but most homeowners can do this on their own with minimal instruction, landscape companies will also offer this service if a homeowner would like to go that route.
Sipping coffee on your back deck on a beautiful fall morning, you look up and gasp — there in your suburban oasis stands a small herd of deer. For a moment you pause, enchanted. An instant later, as the deer begin to munch on your landscape, you realize they’re just not as awestruck by the [...]
Soon it will be time to leave outdoor living spaces and ride out winter’s cold indoors. But before you batten down the barbecue and stow the patio cushions, don’t forget to take care of wooden structures – like decks, pergolas and play sets – that must remain out in the elements.
Routine maintenance of these structures [...]
Leaves turn brilliant colors, evenings cool and the kids go back to school. So long summer, hello fall garden cleanup.
You may already know that composting is a better way to deal with bags of leaves and backyard waste. But if you’ve avoided composting because it seems like too much work and mess — or you [...]
As the leaves turn different colors and the weather becomes cooler, many Americans begin to engage in outdoor cleanup. Consider the number of Americans injured in yard work accidents every autumn and you may begin to suspect that “fall” is actually short for “pitfall.” Fall, it seems, is becoming the season for back injuries, tumbles [...]
Probably one of the most widely used landscaping surfaces around, bark mulch can be used for pretty much anything. I have seen it used for children’s playgrounds, and if you are trying to incorporate a swing set or mini playground into your landscaped space, then bark mulch may be the product for you, and [...]
