Riviera Magazine May 2008

Questions for Aurélien Liutkus the talented Landscape Architect on planting a Mediterranean garden:

The Three Colours for the Riviera:

Camaieu blue like the sky and the sea,
shiny grey like the olive trees,
white like the dails of the boats.

Favourites:

Lights because a garden also lives in the evening. Who
can resist the breathtaking charm of flowers draped in the darkness, emaning wonderful scents ?
No doubt beauty is in the detail....

My wife and I have just finished a hand-built arts and crafts home on the north oregon coast. We plan a "Japanesque" garden to go with the Green and Green style architecture, and this article really helped me focus. Thanks!

I really enjoyed this article. I have always had a fascination with Japanese gardens. We have a nice one at our botanical gardens in Hobart. It is a very relaxing place to go to.

I grew up with a dad who was really into Japanese Gardens. He had three gardens, and I am so grateful to have assisted him in some of the later gardens. Dad spent many hours in the gardens contemplating nature, and in deep thought. He worked hard and was most fond of the Hill and Pond style as well as the dry landscape Japanese garden style. He loved rocks. I am carrying on dad's love of Japanese gardening and nature in general.
